Can You Tint a Cracked or Nonworking Car Window?

A cracked car window should normally be repaired or replaced before window tint is installed. A window that does not roll up and down correctly should also be fixed first. Correcting these problems protects the glass and gives the film a better chance of curing and lasting properly.

Why Cracked Glass Should Be Fixed First

Window-tint installation involves cleaning, handling, pressure, and controlled heat. A crack has already weakened the glass, and heat or movement can cause it to spread or lead to the window breaking. For that reason, Super Car Audio & Tint does not install film on cracked glass. Repair or replace the window first, then schedule the tint.

Why the Window Must Roll Up and Down

The installer needs the window to move normally to clean the glass, position the film, reach the edges, and check the finished installation. A failed window motor, regulator, switch, or damaged track can prevent correct installation and may damage fresh film later.

What About Small Chips or Scratches?

Damage should be inspected before the appointment. A chip near an edge, a deep scratch, or damage that is already growing can create additional risk. Replacing damaged glass first also prevents paying for tint that may need to be removed when the window is repaired.
